Family owned is not always great

Pros

Because they are family owned, some of the perks were great. Close to home. Most people were extremely nice and genuine.

Cons

Their system and processes are those established in the 80's. They are not interested in updating. There are two people in the entire company that make ALL decisions. No matter the decision, how big or small, the owner or the VP have to decide. They don't give you room to do the job you were hired for. The company is full of 'lifers' who believe their opinion should count over yours - regardless to whether they are qualified or not. Also, because these people have been with the company for several years, they can pretty much do and say what they want with no repercussions. There is no HR department. The VP makes all of those decisions and handles any complaints. Not room to grow or advance your career.

Pros

Can not think of anything positive

Cons

Employees do not feel appreciated. 2 Good Managers just quit! Top performing employees are overworked, do not feel appreciated and dread coming to work! Executive management is aware of this and nothing is done!

Reliable's owner recognizes the issues and has begun implementing new management and communication practices. New upper and mid-level management has been brought in as well and all hold an open-door policy. The company is definitely experiencing growing pains but there is a commitment to improving the overall culture and morale.

Pros

Overall it's a good company... however managment need to create a collective learning and growth enviroment within which all employee's can expand and deliver their full potential.

Cons

Lack of training for employee’s to excel and be competitive with other companies; this is because they are still operating in the stone age. Managers seems to lack experience in distributing work so one person cannot be weight down. Managers need to learn how to utilize all employees to their fullest potential without reckon havoc on a few employees.

As part of addressing those challenges, changes are being made to how Reliable manages its employees and how it communicates internally to improve the issues that have faced the company in the past.
