Solid product, extreme management dysfunction

Pros

Solid product built by a strong engineering team. Head of engineering is very effective. Solid product built by a strong engineering team. Head of engineering is very effective.

Cons

The management team outside engineering somehow joined after the product was built apparently to bring it to market. These are 2 different worlds on different ends of the skill and experience spectrum. Management team outside engineering has very little experience in taking products to commercial market, is extremely hierarchical, and basically takes no feedback. Any questioning is met extremely harshly, generally with termination. It's an extreme of management's "way or the highway". There are very unorthodox internal structures with product mgt focused on controlling most corp functions including sales and partnering. There has been signficant staff attrition as a consequence due to firings and resignations below the "exec team". This is extreme even for startups. The sales force worldwide are generally contract employees. Morale is very low outside the exec team. Ultimately this is a direct reflection of the CEO who's main experience is military and defense contracting.

This company is doomed by poor leadership.

Pros

The product is good and had potential.

Cons

The CEO is a narcissist, who behaves like a petulant child. He throws temper-tantrums when anyone disagrees with him. So experienced people leave, and he is left with only inexperienced sycophants, exactly what he wants. He is also not honest with employees, customers, or potential investors, telling each just what he thinks they might want to hear, regardless of how far-fetched.

Lots of potential but needs change

Pros

Great product. Lots of potential. Lots of talent. Good benefits.

Cons

Highly toxic environment. A lot of the “positive” reviews here were added by people at the request of the CEO or because the HR team is trying to bring up the ratings. I think it could get better if the management team changed their approach or new management was brought in.
