Pros

Work from anywhere Long Christmas break

Cons

Strange culture the CEO swears and smokes during the town hall meeting apparently a heavy smoker, Claimed there were no cost cutting or restructuring but the over the months bonus payment delayed and cut, some top level management disappeared. With the introduction of consumer duty the management is still pressuring us to switch clients to our under-performing asset management.

Thank you for the review – always helpful to hear people’s perspectives. Radiant is a client first business, focused on great consumer outcomes both in respect of value and service. To correct our respondent, Radiant Asset Management is a top quartile performing series of portfolios. Whilst we are encouraging our planners to consider this as an alternative investment route for our clients, as part of our fully independent Central Investment Proposition, relevant clients are being transitioned, where appropriate, through a full suitability path, and in line with Consumer Duty best practices. In addition, to correct our respondent further, a Group of our complexity, size (nearing 200 staff) and growth trajectory necessarily keeps its operating structure under review, giving rise to management changes from time to time. Moreover, the Group has a natural level of staff turnover, as does any business, although this remains materially less than the national average for our profession. It is also incorrect that our bonus schemes have been cut. To the contrary, our bonus pool is significantly greater this year than the previous financial year, with awards geared to the achievement of Consumer Duty compliant outcomes for our clients. Our Town Halls are on video calls and are held frequently to ensure that our teams are well informed and up to date with Radiant and wider market developments.

Pros

Colleagues are nice, team socials throughout the year.

Cons

The company talks the talk when it comes to valuing their staff but all they actually care about is profit. Staff are ridiculously overworked and most are handling the workload of 2 or 3 people. Management say they don't have the budget to recruit new staff to ease the stress but they somehow keep finding money to buy other businesses. There's a massive disconnect between Senior Management and staff on the ground, which means they see everything through rose tinted glasses and don't understand how poor morale is (either that or they simply don't care). There is no support on offer - you can say you're struggling until you're blue in the face but no help is offered and nothing changes. Managers are promoted without any training so are ill-equipped to deal with issues that their teams face. There are a lot of people on the verge of breakdowns/burnout because of the selfish actions of management. If you want to feel valued and have a healthy work life balance then I'd strongly advise looking somewhere else.

Thank you for taking the time to write Radiant a review on Glassdoor. We are very sorry to hear this about your experience. We value all our current and former employee’s feedback as it’s important for us to hear what we are doing well and what we need to improve on. The culture at Radiant and the wellbeing of our people is our top priority. We have recently invested heavily in our internal communications strategy to ensure that there is open and two-way dialogue between management and our people, especially as the business grows. We hope that this will help identify where a member of the team feels overworked or unsupported. We recognise the need to continuously develop our management team and through our Training Academy, each line manager participates in a structured development plan, combined with receiving regular one-to-one coaching with a member of the People team to ensure that we are addressing all aspects of management, including mental health and work life balance. You’ve identified a number of areas where you feel we could improve, and we will hold a full investigation into your feedback and incorporate the findings to future strategies at Radiant.

Not as good as they try to claim

Pros

Good work life balance and staff allowed to work from home

Cons

Disillusioned staff being overworked and fed BS from the top with communication carefully made to paint a completely different picture. Staff can see through spin no matter how happy and positive you try to make it look. Falseness shows and the culture isn’t as great as you claim it is. Told we are amazing as a company and that we will be buying loads of firms but stagnant for ages now and no expansion. It looks like top brass are so scared under private equity owners that costs are slashed everywhere to hide below average sales numbers. Good management people are consistently kicked out to save money and bonuses are painted as great but they are poor & lower than similar firms. And benefits aside from pension are the very bare minimum, given a poor platform & act like we should be greatful.

Your feedback is noted, and we are sorry to hear that your perception of Radiant and its business model is so negative. Like all businesses we have and continue to trade through challenging market conditions requiring at times a cautious approach to ensure the long-term success of the organisation and all its employees. Contrary to your views we believe our benefits package is highly competitive as evidenced for example by our full time holiday entitlement of 28 days and our health cash plan available to all employees. As a further example, our bonus schemes seek to recognise exemplary personal performance and where award criteria are not met through no fault of the employee (e.g. through prevailing market conditions) discretion is applied to ensure fair and equitable outcomes for all.
