Pros

The other behavior therapists and most clinicians and special ed teachers were great to work with- they were friendly and welcoming and helped me transition as an employee. My team along with a few select higher-level staff were kind and hard-working and valued my work as a behavior therapist, but unfortunately due to the lack of support, unorganized company structure, and heavy lack of support for the staff's well-being, I decided to leave RCS.

Cons

The management and company structure was unorganized and unsupportive. After working there for several months, the clinical director along with several clinicians left the company, which led to a huge restructure and chaotic work environment. Majority of the staff left were forced to "wear many different hats" and do work entirely out of their job description. The work itself is emotionally tiring working with special ed students who were sometimes mistreated by unfair staff and would really benefit attending a different school elsewhere. The expectations of the students' parents, combined with the severe lack of support for staff well-being and mental health, was truly disorienting. When other behavior therapists and I expressed our concerns, we were dismissed unfairly and given little to no support from the upper management. There were not enough clinicians to support each team and the pay is also unfairly low. The average pay for behavior therapists in the state of MA is $25/hour, and majority were paid severely less. I would not recommend working here as a behavior therapist starting in the ABA field, there are much better workplaces with less toxic work environments, stronger support, and better benefits and compensation.
