Pros

People passionate about helping the poepl of the rural West by applying their unique skills and experience in creative ways. Outstanding respect for personal, cultural and economic diversity among employees, client agencies and communities served. Mostly excellent teamwork and cooperation between teams. Emphasis on training employees - and teaching them to be trainers themselves.

Cons

Poor opportunity for advancement. Starting salary looks good, but doesn't rise as employees gain experience and contribute more to organizational success. Many employees still classified in entry-level position have taken on progressively more professional duties without receiving promotions in classification or pay.

Pros

Helping Rural Communities become stronger and more independent. Teamwork and support are very encouraged and the organizational culture supports employees in professional development. Most people care about each other and want to do what is best for the communities we serve.

Cons

Not all employees work collaboratively. Some are very territorial and don't want people "taking their work." This isn't helpful if everyone brings unique expertise and the community needs that diversity.

Pros

Some of the staff are wonderful, committed hard-workers. Office atmosphere is pleasant and enjoyable.

Cons

Job becomes a robotic, predictable workflow. Cross training is an afterthought, with a huge disparity in skill level between management and newer staff. Questionable and shady hiring practices, as the staff demographics do not at all represent the communities they "proudly" serve.
