Pros

pymetrics is doing really important work trying to solve a critical problem affecting so many people: the way we match people to job opportunities is broken and based on flawed, biased data. The company is at the forefront of solving this issue and has developed an innovative solution rooted in science that challenges the status quo of talent matching. The CEO has a strong vision about the future of the technology, data and the organization and how pymetrics can be used as a catalyst for positive change. Many of the pymetrics employees are kind, considerate, and talented individuals, who are all aligned around a shared goal. This makes for a highly supportive workplace and one where you can tell people genuinely care about their jobs, the mission, and their coworkers. Given the start-up nature of the company, there is a ton of opportunity to stretch yourself and have an outsized influence.

Cons

pymetrics is very much a start-up and the organization operates as one. The pace of work is quick, there is a ton of ambiguity, and processes break. For people who thrive in these types of environments, it is a great place to learn a tremendous amount, have a high degree of ownership, and accelerate your career.

Pros

The mission of pymetrics is amazing -- removing bias from the hiring process. It's hard not to get behind such a good mission. The people I worked with were great -- all intelligent and motivated. They were also incredibly supportive. They were the reason I enjoyed going into work. Pymetrics has a strong emphasis on learning and growth (including a budget for each employee). Management will let you try things and help you along the way, and everyone will be supportive of you as you learn. There are boundless opportunities for upward mobility, and also opportunities to shift teams. The culture was also incredibly important at pymetrics. There are employee resource groups and also unofficial clubs to join, and there was at least 1 team event every month, ranging from in-office happy hours to offsite retreats. The team tried really hard to make sure that people across teams and departments had a chance to get together and know each other. People are celebrated often. I had a lot of fun working there, learned a lot, and met many incredible people.

Cons

The benefits could be better (e.g. no 401k matching while I was there, but they were continuously improving their benefits). There's an emphasis on going above and beyond, which can potentially lead to burnout. Work/life balance can be good, but you have to set those boundaries. (No one will fault you for leaving at a reasonable hour, but many people stay on the later side so you might feel guilty).
