Toxic Work Culture

Pros

Gaining a lot of experience, there's a handful of positive or try-to-stay-positive employees. What I least liked was having to be a part of a toxic culture that has given me anxiety, guilt, and unnecessary stress. To clarify I do not speak for other departments as many have reached out to me with verbal support and I am grateful for that.

Cons

I feel that it is bad for my mental health to continue in this position at the company. I do not feel that I can achieve a work-life balance, and there is little opportunity for advancement. The culture has led me to feel unmotivated to come to work. I feel dreadful heading to work, unlike at the start of my tenure. To be clear I am not unhappy with Pullman as a company, and am thankful for the opportunity to work here under this prestigious brand. Not many would have the chance to join such a well-known brand of high standards. However, I have reached a point where my mental well-being as well as personal career beliefs are being severely challenged. I do not feel that I have been provided with what I need to succeed. On the contrary, I feel burdened by political manipulation, as well as a lack of capability to manage projects efficiently. To my understanding, there are usually better processes that not only help with managing projects efficiently but also help set realistic expectations for stakeholders regarding the turnaround time of deliverables. This allows managers or leads to determine priority or urgent requests and push back other deliverables as needed. This also helps to track resource management and justify any need for additional resources such as manpower. At this stage in Pullman, there are no processes for such and most tasks are delegated without proper tracking. This makes things messy and to the ones who are not observant, it can seem like deliverables are slow or late when in fact many other factors like urgent requests, or last-minute tasks are issued A blatant attempt to guilt trip/put blame on me by manipulating and simply put, lying to me has crossed a line, and I do not feel comfortable continuing further. Many other examples have been blatant and very appalling, like immediately strategizing where to push blame to protect the department, instead of admitting to the problem and fixing it. I feel that this is against my work ethic, as well as detrimental to the company as problems will not truly be dealt with and instead innocent parties are put to blame.
