Pros

Schedule is a set schedule so you begin work at 7 and leave at 3:30. Pretty easy work though some ways of doing things are a little tedious. Especially when you weigh things on their broken scales.

Cons

There is a lot that this company needs to improve on, starting, by clearing out the "family" who runs it now they definitely take care of there own and the don't make a secret of it either. You have some people coming in making $14 an hour and others that have some sort of affiliation with the family making $18. The work environment is pretty toxic the way the "upper management" talks to the production team gets downright disrespectful and vicious. For example one of the main contributors to this is the warehouse guy. He is very toxic and makes everyone around him upset when he has a bad day. The pay is not up to what it should be especially since you mess with things that's can instantly make you cease to exist in lack of better terms.

Pros

Great career opportunities. The company was looking to enroll their next generation of managers as their management team at the time was reaching retirement. I was involved in a great variety of projects and included in high stakes meetings and conversations quite early. The work environment presented many learning opportunities as I had to work with multiple departments and several times out of my comfort zone. I therefore developed skills related to the field and also not related to my educational background. Prior to the pandemic trips to the plants (Canada and US) were common and expected of a person at my role

Cons

While being a big company, Protech is also a family company. I was requested quite often to work on projects not at all related to the core business but to the family's other ventures. The work load can be daunting sometimes as the head office in Montreal has to assist the great majority of the other plants across Canada and the US with quite a small team. That was even more so the case for my position since I was involved in Purchasing, Demand planning and several other projects. The financial compensation were not competitive for the amount of work required. The company highlights the abondance of projects available and the many opportunities lying ahead, that never really see fruition, which was ultimately the reason of my departure.
