Overall enjoyable work experience although a bit fickle
Pros
Enjoyable team dynamic, good introduction for laboratory techniques - During my time at Progenesis I really enjoyed the small workplace dynamic they have there and the character of the people that I worked with; smart, funny, and professional people that weren't afraid to voice their opinion even if it wasn't something the CEO wanted to hear. It was also a good environment for me to brush up on some laboratory techniques such as PCR/Sequencing and there is alot you can learn if you demand it. I think the best thing about working at Progenesis was being able to make a tangible difference with your work - I personally saw how Progenesis' testing service gave a lot of peace of mind to anxious mothers and it's not very often that people can honestly say that their work made a difference or really matters.
Cons
Very unpredictable workplace environment - every week my responsibilities changed and I was eventually shoehorned into a role that was irrelevant to my background/expertise I originally interviewed with the expectation that I would actually work in the lab and help to assist/facilitate with experiments/PGT-A testing and while this occurred initially I was eventually removed from that role and molded into adopting more of a customer service/secretary position that I personally did not care for. Don't be surprised when your job responsibilities change and you find yourself folding boxes/preparing folders for a majority of your time. There was also alot of pressure to sacrifice your personal time for the benefit of the company (I was pressured into coming in on the weekends more than occasionally). Although this isn't the company's fault necessarily but I also had an issue with the amount of smokers that were around the company facility - very hard to avoid secondhand smoke on your lunchbreak's etc (keep this in mind if you're working here because it is something I would have liked to know beforehand).
