Seriously Consider Not Working Here

Pros

Commitment to charity, good benefits, lots of company-provided lunches and potlucks, some nice people who are very committed to their jobs. Reasonable change of being promoted from within.

Cons

Attitude of mistrust from company owners toward all other staff means information is not shared. Not only are people not enabled to excel, but there is lots of gossip, speculation, and unrest. Careless hiring of executives and the tendency to promote people they like from within, regardless of skills and experience, means you will likely work for an incompetent boss who does not know how to do their job, who flounders for a little while and then is fired, hopefully before they manage to fire you. Staff turnover is very high, both voluntary and involuntary terminations. It seemed someone was leaving every week. Grudges and unprofessional personal disputes were common, and affected the culture and the quality of work. Even the best people had to join some sort of backstabbing clique in order to survive within the toxic environment. If you have any other job offer, take it.

Pros

Salary and benefits are great. There are also some really nice people working there who care deeply about what they do.

Cons

The CEO is former military and he uses a military approach to management. Basically he uses fear and intimidation to 1. get employees to perform and 2. make them doubt themselves and their abilities so that they are afraid to go anywhere else. Every once in a while he will say something nice and support to keep you guessing. It's a huge mind game designed to make you feel uncomfortable at all times so that you are easily manipulated.
