I cannot shake the feeling that I am underpaid. I get glimpses into what other people make doing similar work at other companies and I think I am getting shortchanged. Raises do not appear to happen regularly, not even to keep up with inflation or cost of living increases. You can get a raise if you ask, but the boss has to be convinced that you've earned it, which is kind of backwards, since this expectation puts workers in the position of having to work harder and harder just to maintain the same effective compensation.
That most of us do extra work anyway exacerbates this feeling. It's typical to put in more than forty hours per week. But at Proflow, salaried workers do not get any extra compensation for putting in extra hours. I doubt that this is legal, but I have yet to really research the matter.
Opportunities for promotion are not apparent. I am told that there will likely be some significant growth ahead, and thus room for advancement, but that is not as much of a guarantee as compared to, say, an abundance of coworkers eligible for retirement.
Employee moral is not great. This sentiment probably has to do with the compensation situation, but there are other factors. The biggest of these might be management's refusal to dismiss certain individuals in the office, whose attitude can be very pollutive and make everyone uncomfortable. Also, camaraderie is weak, at least in the office.
