Pros

A developing and increasingly people focussed culture A multi site operation with significant opportunities for the individual employee Owners of an amazingly strong suite of brands - the sort of products that you are proud to be associated with Invests effectively in its leadership team Supports its people well in times of personal need

Cons

Following the merger with RHM in 2007, Premier carries an excessive, albeit reducing, level of debt - costs are therefore micro managed and staffing levels are too low. This results in very high work loads and long working hours Beholden to the city with quarterly reporting - this drives short term thinking and ultimately prevents the business from making the long term plans that it needs to effectively and efficiently drive future growth

Pros

A gym opposite the office and can walk in to town Handful of pleasant and smart people Free bread and hot drinks

Cons

High turnover in head office staff, people join the business and quickly realise it's going nowhere and leave, then not replaced as a recruitment freeze has been in place since last year Disengaged employees waiting for redundancy they believe is coming their way, atmosphere is depressing No budget in any department to correctly get jobs done or deliver the targets expected so everyone is demotivated and coming in to work to get paid and leave Very rigid working hours and no flexible working available (unless you're a Director) Poor benefits package and huge cuts across the business, bonus is non existent and shouldn't even be mentioned as is never paid out Not enough parking onsite so unless you arrive before 8:15am then you have to find somewhere else to park

Bed of lies

Pros

A few really good people...but only a few. Some people genuinely have a passion for the products. There's a gym near the head office

Cons

The bonus is unachievable. Insulting even. The CEO has over committed to this 2-4% growth but we are not achieving anywhere near that. Grocery SBU is failing and the constant excuse is because we have had hot summers and Easter was in a different quarter this year! Internal progression is very rare. If you go for an interview and HR tell you progression happens a lot, they are lying. There are a lot of out of touch senior staff like the MD and his direct team. Don't expect him to say hello to you or thanks if you hold a door open for him. But during his quarterly sessions he acts like he has passion for all the people in grocery. The onsite 'cafe' is useless and isn't subsidised. There is no flexibility to work from home! Even one day a week. Unless you work in sales. They are very behind with the times. No reasonable long service awards. Work for 20 years before you get £200! This is for head office. The sites get a bit more. But 20 years??! Parking is a nightmare at head office. They try a lot of fancy processes that don't work. The culture hasn't changed either. A lot of employees get paid off to leave the company. A lot of employees have regretted their decision to join after a short time.
