Pros

Very cool product. A lot of dedicated, passionate employees, especially in the working ranks (beneath management). Nice facilities, great history.

Cons

Where to start. Work-life balance is gone. Polaris is your life. There are so many layers of management that it is extremely top heavy, but the people actually doing the work are being worked to death, with multiple "bosses" telling them what to do. No raises in 2016 for the second time in 7 years, but *shocker* a flurry of "promotions" in the management and director ranks. No raises for the working class, but of course if you're above the riff-raff, you just get a promotion that comes with a salary adjustment, BUT IT'S NOT A RAISE! LOL. VERY little career advancement opportunity. The vast majority of the management and above level positions are hired externally. And worst of all...one man holds all the power now. With the departure of Bennett Morgan, Scott Wine is now the CEO, COO, President, and COB. No more checks and balances, and no more scapegoat. Look at the financial performance of the company...something like 28 straight quarters of record growth and earnings, followed now by either 3 or 4 straight quarters of missing forecast and shrinking guidance. Yet Scott Wine is so laser focused on bringing this company to $8 billion in revenue he is collecting companies like a kid collects baseball cards...sadly he is buying companies that are diluting the Polaris brand and portfolio, not adding to it. Indian and to a lesser extent Kolpin and Klim were good additions. On the flip side, there is a LONG list of garbage: Axiam Mega, GEM, Goupil, Taylor Dunn, this new auto parts company, etc. He is destroying this once great company. Long tenured employees are jumping ship on this wreck in droves. When you have a company of nothing but green recent college grads, and all your knowledge base is departing with your long term employees, you have a problem.

Passionate Employees, Tough Family Culture

Pros

- Employees are extremely passionate - Opportunities to lead diverse projects - Respected as a leader within their industry - Pay, benefits, profit sharing are on par or better within Twin Cities area - Place an emphasis on innovation - Opportunities to advance if you fit the culture - Executive level training for D and C2 levels who have strong history of performance

Cons

- Quality of life outside of work is an after thought. The director within my department worked 5:30 am to 8 pm every night even with a family of 8 ... including most weekends - There really is no work / life balance within ORV. Time in your office chair is often more important than your total contributions - I was nervous to submit or take vacation even at a manager level within the company - Company does not place an emphasis on quality. They may say it, but speed to market is more important. Proven with 6 months warranties. Net Promoter Scores scores are great ... when you only benchmark 5 months of consumer ownership. - Many of the managers are in it for themselves. Gossip and butt kissing is the culture here. And at the manager level it's usually self serving to make it to another year of LTIP (stock payouts based on company performance).

Pros

Great perks, with travel to cool locations for cool events. Brand new office in Bass Creek is an excellent facility.

Cons

Polaris has changed in the last 10 years from a company of enthusiasts to arrogant corporate ladder climbers who will stop at nothing to get to the top. They don't care about other employees, the product or worst of all the customers. The entire marketing organization across the board has nearly completely turned over and how those who have been pushed out or let go have been treated (some after long tenures) is borderline inhumane. Everyone is simply a number, and there is no career development unless you are in the "good old boys" club. Human Resources is flat out corrupt and exists to serve only the people in power. Going to HR for help is a guaranteed ticket out the door. Polaris should be one of the most fun places to work in the world and instead it's a toxic, arrogant culture that spits people out who don't play the political games, no matter their experience, skill, or more importantly their passion for power sports.
