I enjoyed the flexibility of organizing my productivity planner however did not appreciate emails, calls and texts on Friday night, Saturday morning and Sunday afternoon while the home office was closed.

Cons

Pros

best senior market portfolio in the country. outstanding Long-Term Care plans and excellent Medicare Supplement service in paying the bills.

Cons

Years ago PMIC had a "participatory" type of management style and actively sought feedback from the agents in the field. Today however with the ascension of the oldest son of Robert Reed who has run the company the past 3 decades, Rob Reed is just a typical CPA type who has surrounded himself with "yes" people. He needs to get off his butt and go into the field as an agent and sit down with Mr. and Mrs. America and sell policies for 6 months to get a better perspective on things. The most disturdbing thing is that they have been hiring people that have left Mutual of Omaha down the street and many of them are unethical and have changed the old culture of the company that was in effect for almost 100 years where every employee was valued as a member of the Physicians Mutual "Family." No more. The company has changed to be much like other companies with a "authoritative" management style. (My way or the highway.) Many employees who made contributions for 20 years or more have been let go to hire younger, cheaper folks to feed the bottom line. There used to be a culture of doing everything extremely ethically and never trying to push a policy through that was not perfectly right. Now however with the advent of new management and new hires underwriting is beginning to allow falsifying signatures and fudging on the side of possible illegalities to push more policies through. Nothing is ever enough and it is push, push, push just like other companies in the business. With the feeling of being together as a family gone now Rob Reed is going for a bigger bottom line and it feels as if they are squeezing blood from a stone. Rob''s younger brother Tim has said that his brother is the type to count all the rolls of toilet paper in a package; then count the number of sheets in a role; and then count the threads in a sheet before he buys. That a real comfort. It used to be all about the agents and the folks who ran the company. Now its about egos and profit.
