Pros

Small company permits a lot of inter-departmental interaction.

Cons

Disingenuous, selfish people who claim to be different from their counterparts at Christies and Sothebys, but fact is, many there are just as awful. It's a shame because there are quite a few phenomenal career professionals, but they are over-shadowed by recent rotten senior hirings which have clearly soiled the bunch. HR is also equally heartless and as single-sided as they come.

Pros

Really none, they paid on time.

Cons

Reviewing the London base, words cannot describe how awful the people are you will work with. Cold atmosphere, no one talks to each other, if you have any personality this is not the place for you. Exceptionally elitist.

Decent job, difficult boss

Pros

Because it's smaller than Christie's or Sotheby's, I really had the opportunity to work very closely with everyone in the company. Especially before new management, I had no issues speaking to the CEO on a weekly basis, often daily during busy spells. Outside of the season, work/life balance is great. I have hope for the new management but didn't stay long enough to really see where it was going.

Cons

If you are not a specialist, there really is no room for career advancement. Raises are next to impossible to get. During high season, work load is incredibly challenging. I also had a particularly difficult boss, who was well-known by everyone to be quite a challenge. This person was nudged out the door shortly after I left.
