None of Payline’s technology was proprietary and that was kept secret from most of the employees for a long time. Payline was essentially an aggregate of a lot of payment tech widgets, offerings and licenses from other fintech providers. Talent during the company’s growth phase and there was a big one, was recruited to make them believe it was an innovative payment tech company in Chicago. It was not that at all. It was a sales office with good payment software licenses and product offerings. Commissions were very low for its inside sales teams. However, leads were usually warm and support teams were strong. Not a bad experience, but not a great one either. The work was relatively easy and I learned a ton about digital payments.
