Thanks for the honest feedback. Comments like this help us rethink some of our practices and improve the company.
Patton Electronics has been in business for more than 30 years. Part of our success is responding to economic downturns with actions that preserve as many jobs as possible. Our response a few years ago was to reduce compensation. The average reduction was 5%. Whenever we have employed such measures, we have also kept our promises. During the event addressed here, we did restore compensation levels once we reached 3 consecutive months of profit (one quarter). On the other side, when profits were strong, we have been known to give bonuses to all employees that were not previously committed or expected.
As a small company, we try to hire people that are competent in their jobs and can help us grow stronger. Our employees have lots of freedom to bring changes to how we work, and improve our processes. Many people appreciate this kind of freedom from bureaucracy and fear of change. We do have an active program for bringing in students, and from other reviews I think it is apparent that our company is a "good place to learn."
Yes, we would love to match our employees 401K contributions. This is high on our list of employee benefit improvements. What many of our less senior employees appreciate is our Education benefits, which we have recently doubled.
We do have an Open Plan office environment. Some people have a hard time with this, but overall the layout has contributed to better team-work, integration of employees and a fun, friendly atmosphere. Even the Executives of the company have no offices and work out in the open.
