Pros

Relaxed atmosphere Good allowance of time off and flexible work schedule, can work from home, etc Provides work related resources without much corporate hassle Benefits are decent. In general the HR side of the company is great. But...

Cons

A few bad apples have clawed to the top of the fray, Poor leadership, "do as I say, not as I do" mentality, People are treated based on the money/contracts they bring in. Bring in projects and they leave you alone. And if you don't bring in projects they won't help you. You are on your own here. Top heavy management, very high overhead. Lots of people who are responsible for programs but don't really seem to be doing anything tangible or productive. Lots of managers but no good leadership. No support by management. Any sign of trouble and you will be abandoned. In general the management is closed off to the main body of the company and that tends to breed rumors and speculation. Sometimes it feels like you are just manufacturing TV sets and not part of an employee owned company. It used to be a whole lot better. Now it's soaked in politics and power struggles.

Pros

In the beginning of my 8 year career with this company the pros were many and varied. It was like a big, happy family. As time went by, they all rather wilted and died.

Cons

This is an "employee-owned company" which means the top echelon can pretty much do as they wish without worrying about rules - they don't have any. People would be there one day and gone the next, this is after many years service to the company. No explanations other than, "Robert is no longer with Parametrix." People who do not sell contracts are viewed as attachments to be trashed as soon as they are not pulling in enough billable hours to earn their own pay as well as a hefty mark-up for company coffers. Engineers and accountants run the company, their self proclaimed "Core Values" are a total farce - they only apply to the top tier of "employees." The CEO is aptly named: a noisy "look at me" bird worth little.

Pros

it is close to my home

Cons

The company "feel" has changed and not in a good way. Management is extremely unproductive. They have people in charge that have no business being in management positions.
