Pros

Good parking, temperature stays cold in the building.......

Cons

Horrible pay, No benefits, bad management....Worst place I have ever worked hands down, The company is out of Indianapolis, but has a satellite building in Houston. I witnessed three sexual assaults, was challenged to an old fashioned fist fight on many occasions, and observed unsafe working conditions almost on a daily basis. They are always rolling out new rules and procedures but never tell you when the old rules don't apply or new rules go into effect. In all its a pointless low paying job with no promotion. They hire and fire at the drop of a dime so get the experience and then get far away!

I appreciate you taking the time to share your feedback, and I regret your experience has left you dissatisfied with your time at POLARIS Laboratories. Without hesitation, I truly understand and value our employees are our greatest asset. We remain completely transparent in all our efforts with our managers and employees. We also respect and protect all of our employees well-being and safety. While these circumstances are unfounded, if any employee ever experiences an incident or experience where he/she feels unsafe or uncomfortable, we address it swiftly and definitely. What’s more, we continue to work to remove this variation and improve our service to our customers and our employees. To accomplish this, we are continuously empowering our employees to identify and implement continuous improvement in our laboratory processes. Like all organizations, we take the feedback we receive seriously. We also make improvements based on the perceptions captured here. As a result, we have improved compensation, benefits and work environment for all our employees. This is an ongoing process, but we are pleased to see the progress in this area. I appreciate your insights about your experience at POLARIS Laboratories. If you would like to share more, please contact me anytime.

Pros

It is easy to get hired on. A lot of opportunity for overtime. Upper management is okay, that is if you ever see them.

Cons

It is easy to get hired on... They hire anyone. Felons, yes. People who lack basic math skills, yes. Benefits are a joke, they don't pay enough for an employee to take advantage of them. The leadership is lacking in all areas, you cannot expect any follow through on issues. Promotions are always promised, but it seems more of a string along to keep employees from leaving. You will not get ahead unless you are overly friendly with management. Promotions are based more on popularity than professional decisions. The work distribution/expectation varies greatly for each individual. Quality and integrity have no presence in this company. Safety is a real issue. POLARIS does not provide you with proper equipment or ventilation for the tasks asked of you. There was an outbreak of nosebleeds at one location as a result of this, they did nothing about it until it came time for inspection. Turnover is awful, you can expect to see a new face almost every other week.

Thanks for the feedback. We are committed to providing a transparent, organized and balanced operation for all our employees to thrive in at POLARIS Laboratories. We offer many forums and opportunities for employees to provide feedback, suggestions and input on how to improve our processes and our work environment. We value and consider all the feedback shared through multiple streams, including here on GlassDoor. I regret your experience did not match our goal of being an employer of choice, where you could grow and continue your career. I assure you that your experience is not my expectation. We value our employees and their skills and look for opportunities for the employees to help grow and expand their skill sets within the company. While we may have been too late in your case, we have made improvements based on feedback from our employees, which includes current and former POLARIS Laboratories team members. This has resulted in improved compensation, benefits and work environment for all our employees. However, this is an ongoing process and we recognize we should strive to do even more. I appreciate your insights about your experience at POLARIS Laboratories. We appreciate your feedback, and we wish you the best in all your future endeavors. And, as always, if you would like to share more – or even learn more about our continued commitment to our employees – please contact me anytime.

Pros

There are no highlights about this department.

Cons

This department for Minorities or anyone that is African American is the worst. The Management will hire you to set you up to fail. The system in this department is very much disturbing and very distasteful. They will sit all the African Americans on one side of the room grouped together and on the other side of the room all the Caucasian employees are seated and grouped on the other. These seats are all assigned seating and to think that this is ok is more then crazy. And to disguise there system they sat one of each opposite race on each side to try and remain not obvious. You will also never advance they will keep you at a level 1 and barley make you a level 2. They will advance only the white employees after a few months to a year. You will never get any raises or bonuses due to your level not advancing. There are employees there now for seven years that still wont be advanced over someone white. You will do the same or more in your work and will be treated less or as if you are not ready or able. Your training will come from your peers and not so management as it should be in your first 3 months of employment. You will not be directed or trainined properly if you are African American they will almost never try and schedule time for you. They want you to be more social and friendly then they are about there work ethics and making sure you know what it is you need to advance. They will call out the highlights and the great things done by all the white employees but rarley ever give recognition and acknowledgment to any of the African American employees that are doing the same or have done better. It is very again distasteful and unprofessional to hire and conduct a department in that way. Especially when the system they have set up is to see you to fail and they seat you in groups accordingly. I would not recommend anyone to work here due to this department alone. You have a better chance with a bigger and better corporation then being treated and kept in the same place for years. The pay is not good its barley making it and they never advance African Americans to have any chance to make more. Its very rare and its alot that are not even a level 3 after over 5 years of being a employee there. Its just really sad and its alot of people that deserve a great job were they dont feel left out from the great opportunities promised to everyone else. No matter your race or back ground everyone deserves to be treated fairly and the same but you will not get that at this company. So I dont refer this company to anyone there are so many other better paying companies and better opportunities out there.
