Pros

Before 2007 work was abundant, after it was almost nil. We have both been pro union since we were kids.

Cons

The union has degraded so far that we no longer will advocate for it at all. We will honestly tell you that it breaks our heart how they have lowered themselves to be anti-employee. Such as representatives having to be forced to do their job, not using the democratic system when it comes to elections but deciding who to vote for without a member vote, losing half our annuities and much of our retirement. Now that we can retire with full benifits they are stalling, to the tune of 6+ months. On top of that they are trying to reduce his benifits and treating him like he's to stupid to understand. Using words like it's complicated and changing the rules of local 12, a former employer. We used to say that the union is only as strong as it's members but we will no longer blame them, management is out to screw us & I'm sure others. I would not recommend joining now if they paid me.
