      salary was ok only because of self negotiation. push them to get $$$ other staff are lovely, very committed to the work

      minimal advancement especially if you are not white very, very corporate and money driven culture

      Pros

      The leadership has relationships which provide access and allow conservation to be 'at the table' for many major decisions affecting land use and the environment.

      Cons

      One colleague described working there to me as 'leadership walking around throwing lit matches on everyone's desk.' The organization tries to be everything to all people, which ultimately means doing too many different things mostly in a mediocre way. This leaves very few if any resources or capacity for operational support like HR or even basic staff management and support.

      Openlands is regarded as a leader in urban conservation. It was established decades ago so it had a head start.

      Cons

      No communication. Management doesn’t respect opinions or diversity of ideas.
