Pay ok and good benefits, poorly managed

Pros

Pay's pretty good for the work, if you're in a non warehouse role. If you're a driver or a picker expect to be treated like dirt (I'm neither but I've seen first hand). Benefits are very good, decent medical insurance and 15% off orders with the company, plus other stuff. Generally people at the bottom are nice, although the turnover of such staff is pretty high.

Cons

Management is pretty arrogant and unhelpful. This gets worse as you go up the ladder to the point that Directors seem to think there job is primarily to swear and shout about how awful the work of their underlings is. Utter lack of training, expected to work seriously hard and do things that aren't your job on a regular basis. Manager not at all amenable to these considerations. Expect to have to fight very hard to get a decent work-life balance.

Pros

Room to develop. Room to share and implement ideas. Fast paced

Cons

graduates take most of the jobs. The pay reviews are unclear. The salaries are below the market. You have go above and beyond to prove yourself before considering you for pay increase. Need to work harder to retain staff as large staff turnaround

Pros

Ocado and M&S Discount which is great.

Cons

Terrible progression - you are told you are on a 2 year scheme, with promise of a permanant job at the end of it. However, if opportunities come up during the scheme for you to take a permanent role you aren't allowed to take it unless you are more than 18 months in. Secondly, there are rarely any jobs after the 2 years for you to take, so they roll you onto a 5th rotation, essentially keeping you as cheap labour. The pay rises are a joke, not even matching inflation, no part is reflective of your performance and they ignore any valid points against the pay rise. They don't even match the history of other cohorts ahead of you, pay it is totally random. The office is in the middle of no where, in a lifeless part of the UK and it seriously expensive to get to. Any increased days in the office or increase in train fares are ignored when it comes to pay as well. Outside of the scheme everyone else has the same issues with terrible pay and no progression at all! The turnover rate of the company is crazy.
