Pros

The small number of core people who cared and wanted to help and support end-users in challenging times.

Cons

Higher management (now departed CCO for example) had little post-Covid actions/plans. Proposals of alternative areas to grow into (from sales teams on numerous occasions) were not recognised until it was very evident that covid testing demands were on the downturn. It’s unfortunate that there was lack of future planning based on utilising instrument install base to leverage the promate solution/technology within public and private sectors. The portfolio of RUO assays was strong but needed updated. If they were maintained it would have given a strong start to post covid markets prior to gaining CE-IVD/IVDR There was a toxic working environment within and between some commercial divisions. The lack of a proper e-commerce platform is telling of the position of where Novacyt currently is.

Novacyt Group Response
3y
When the Covid Pandemic struck, Novacyt was uniquely positioned to provide the tests to detect the virus in a very speedy manner, and to develop these as the various strains evolved. The company grew in terms of revenue, customer numbers and of course staff numbers to support the battle against Covid. The business did recognise that Covid testing demands would reduce and work was done to build up other business areas. Novacyt is interested primarily in technologies applied to human infectious disease diagnostics and screening, and adjacent markets. These include: Respiratory, Gastrointestinal, Transplant, Insect-borne diseases. We are also considering additional unmet needs in infectious diseases including sexually transmitted infections (STI), urinary tract infections (UTI), hospital acquired infections, meningitis/encephalitis and sepsis. There are some business areas which we have now withdrawn from, as they did not sit in our focus, which is very much on infectious diseases. With very deep regret a number of posts were made redundant and after a period of consultation, sadly a number of people left the organisation. However, they left knowing the impact they made to the battle against Covid, the big impact that they and the company had on fighting the pandemic, and left with skills and experience gained during this unique period of world history.

Pros

Some of the people are the best I’ve ever worked with and such a strong, hard working, collaborative mindset.

Cons

Nothing is rewarded other than lying, false promises, betrayal and being ultimately cut throat. All whilst being encouraged to sell out your peers if you dare criticise or draw attention to the wrong doing or unregulatory and unsafe practices.
