Human resource department is a joke! They do not support employees rights they pretend they do but will always do what managment tells them to. They have no authority over managers and executives.

The work can be rather boring and mundane with limited options for out of the box thinking (not a done thing in Japanese culture) There is an overall culture of fear. If your face doesn't fit that week they have some smart ways of making sure your face vanishes almost overnight. This really presents as an awful culture with limited improvements or change. The HR department and senior management is outdated and often patronising and controlling. There's a strong"Ivory Tower" complex here. There is no productive and beneficial review system, bonueses are often not paid and salary promises not met No progression unless you are male and Japanese No flexible working at all and no holidays at month end
