Pros

Company with strong balance sheet, excellent move to acquire the Emerson motor business which was given a second life. Willing to invest in the motor business.

Cons

Unrealistic expectation from the employees. The targets are set extremely high which no one believes in. Always get beat up in management meetings with the Nidec CEO. He chased away many good executives such as Mr. Kure and Mr. Murphy.

Pros

Excellent technology on motors, best in the world. Strong balance sheet with virtually no debts. Willing to invest in the best motor design and manufacturing technologies.

Cons

The Japanese management team at the headquarters in Kyoto has no idea on how to management a US or European companies. They asked a lot of questions repeatedly with no understanding of the business. They did not contribute much and just waste a lot of other people's time.

Pros

- Will not easily fire staff. - Good place for retirement life.

Cons

- Typically Japanese culture, long working hours required. - Staff being promoted base on working years in company but not own capability. Lead to some management level just have the tittle but without the capability to solve problems. - Serious office politic environment. If you able to get close to some management level then you will easy to get promoted. - Almost every decision making power also control by Japanese staff, foreigner staff do not have any power. - Too focus on details, work hard but not work smart. Waste so much time to turning around but not work for the best results. - A place for retirement, everyday just turning around focus on same problem and keep look into details. - Even you are really capable on work but still wont get promoted easily. Company criteria to promoted a staff will be 1) Japanese staff or 2) Long service staff or 3) Staff who have good relationship with management. - Company more look into who can work longer instead of who can work better.
