Pros

You will get support you need to get the job done. Every Friday at 4 pm it is casual time where you can have beer and chat with your coworkers. Your pay is fully dependent on your job performance.

Cons

The owner only cares about money which is why you are getting a lot of training every Tuesday and Thursday. To him we are like an investment. If you are not up to his expectations you will get terminated, plain and simple. I was terminated after coming back from compassionate leave and his reason was poor performance. My poor performance was due to family issues but he does not care. Moreover, when I asked for compassionate leave the owner did not approve it but according to the BC employment standards it should be given even though it is an unpaid leave. There was intense discussion with the owner about this. It is very ironic that this company is promoting work life balance and flexibility. If you are further considered as an applicant you will be invited to meet with the owner's wife who is a family physician. This was meant to be a behavioral interview to see if you are good fit to the company but I was asked several personal questions that are illegal. Due to my background I was asked when I moved to Canada, my personal status, family and age. With the competitive job market I decided to answer those questions. These questions have nothing to do with the job at all.

Pros

The work environment is fast paced and the health benefits were great. The company helps you grow your career by training you in diverse projects. The weekly training program keeps you well informed with the current provincial and federal regulations - which is the key to solving many complex business, regulatory and technical problems. If you are a beginner in the industry, hungry for experience, it might be the place to work to gain that experience.

Cons

The turnover rate is very high at this company especially for sales and junior staff. There is a lack of support to employees during hard times. Similar to the review submitted on Feb. 7, 2016, I was laid off shortly after Compassionate Care Leave. The leave was not approved initially and I had to go through intense conversations with the owner of the company. Several weeks before my leave I was actually given a raise but eventually I was laid off with "poor performance".

Pros

I previously worked at Next Environmental a couple years ago. From what I hear the company has completely changed in the past 4 years to provide a better work life balance and culture within the company. The amount of time per week spent on training the whole team - which is ran by the President of the company, Harm Gross - is actually very informative. You are able to grow within the company at a very fast pace.

Cons

My test scores were not at 80% - which is what the company wants you to receive. I have never been good at tests and this is why I felt that I may not be good for the team. This really isn't a con in regards to the company, but more about myself.
