A Small Business Nightmare

Pros

A few nice coworkers that are friendly and helpful. Since it's a small company, parking is always easy to find. They hire young talented individuals. The pay is decent for a company in a small town like Ocala. This is a good job for people that work in sales, I say this because the sales staff has been there for a long time whereas turnover for social, design and development is much higher.

Cons

Management doesn't really understand how digital marketing works, a lot of their beliefs on social media, web design and PPC comes from old and outdated standards. If you're a designer, be prepared to build template websites or be heavily hindered on what kind of custom designs you can do. Also, you'll design, build and do content for each site, the same way this job was done in 2008. Wireframing, UX, content strategy? Netsource doesn't believe in it, and their pricing structure wouldn't allow for anything close to that level of effort to be put into a project. If you're coming in for a social media job, they still think Google+ is a thing. Back to my pro about hiring young talent, this is also a con, there aren't people there who serve as good mentors for what you do. The company more or less takes advantage of young and inexperienced employees to get a lot of work from them at a lower rate than they would someone else. Then you leave the company with skills that haven't been useful in over 5 years. Benefits at this job are horrible, health insurance is mediocre at best. You're only eligible for vacation time after you've worked there for a full year. Sick days? You get 1 sick day for every 4 months after your first year of working there. So, after 16 months of working for this company, you have 1 sick day. Don't let them tell you otherwise, because they will lie to you about this. Well, they're either lying or don't know their own policies that well. Even when you do have a sick day available, there are policies on how you can use them. You'll also feel like you're in a prison, if you clock in at 8:31 as opposed to 8:30, your screen will be red to remind you how bad of an employee you are. If you come back from lunch more than 5 minutes late? You'll be told that you shouldn't have eaten at a buffet. They make it a point to remind their employees that it isn't a country club, it's a job. A horrible one at that. When I worked there, everything was brown. Brown walls, brown carpet, brown desks. It's so monotone and boring, just like the company's culture. You'll start to feel depression and anxiety soon after starting to work here because it literally feels like an inescapable prison. There is no investment in employees, probably because the owner knows that people are constantly looking to leave. They're too cheap to put any kind of effort into growing their talent. Don't expect any training, it's a sink or swim environment and the other employees are too overworked to stop and help the new guy.

Pros

Really talented staff, autonomy within the workplace.

Cons

So many cons I’m not even sure where to start. CEO is condescending and stuck in the past.

NetSource Technologies Response

I’m sorry you feel that way. As the president and CEO of NetSource, I’ve worked hard to build a great team of people providing cutting edge solutions for a national customer base. We’ve worked hard to create an environment where individuals can succeed by helping our customers succeed. I’m proud of the fact that our work has received over 80 awards for excellence, but more proud that 80% of our team has been together for over 4 years. No environment is a fit for everyone and I’m sorry things didn’t work out for you here. I wish you nothing but the best in your future endeavors.
