Pros

The Nelson Family who are no longer involved in day to day operations was the major Pro of the organization. They were candidate and client focused on doing what was right and not focused on nickel and diming everyone. Since they left, the company has turned into Robert Half and the focus has shifted into maximizing profits by any means necessary.

Cons

CEO, CIO, Entire Corporate Office, New VP's. What was once the strength of the company is now the weakness. The CEO who is from Robert Half is a disaster and I promise you, you have never met a less genuine person. The corporate office has never been less responsive and inactive. Urgent matters are ignored and amazingly there was a mandatory company phone call, where all of the people at corporate were giving promotions (and raises) despite their disappointing efforts. This was a few months before they decided to take money away from the recruiters and sales staff who actually make money for the company. The new VP's could not be more inept. They are now a company that will hire almost anyone, but if you don't produce in the first few months, you are fired. If Gary and Craig Nelson knew what was going on daily at the company, they would immediately fire the upper managers and step in to safe their sinking company.

Pros

- You get to work with a large number of clients (some big names) - A true agency - Family owned over public - Medium sized. Not huge or super small

Cons

- Very corporate environment that hates Millennials - No room for growth even though they will lie and tell you there is - Upper management is extremely close minded, uneducated and is in Sonoma thinking business runs like is did 20+ years ago - Awful technology, slow to make changes and always late to the game compared to competitors - They only change when they get sued - SUPER low pay and awful benefits - No training program - Really bad culture. They use to have a great one, but over the past 2 years it has plummeted

Pros

Nelson had a lot going for it prior to the new leadership insertion, some time mid 2023. Many employees had been with the company for 5, 10, 15, and even 20+ years. Family feel, supportive leadership, employee autonomy and work life balance/flexibility were all values that were embodied from the top down. Most clients were repeats, candidates were managed in a way that set us a part from the "big" recruiting firms. People came back to us because we cared and had pride in our work. We supported our community through helping companies hire the best talent.

Cons

When the new CEO and added Senior Leaders were brought on, a decline started. There was no transparency in what they intended to fix/build, even though it was clear that an agenda was put in place. New initiatives didnt make sense and there was more emphasis on metrics and jumping through hoops than on people. Lots of party tricks and talks of innovation, all while simultaneously creating a culture that breeds micromanagement and unhealthy competition. Not surprising many people have left to join competitors.
