Pros

Great lunch program and the company parties are fantastic.

Cons

Everything else. If you are liked, you will be fine. It seems as if there is a "target of the month club" where one employee is mentally destroyed and picked on. You can hear management making fun of other employees on the floor and in the offices, even with doors closed. Never have I heard more people being belittled along with being called stupid and worthless in my life. Truly a hostile work environment after you are placed on an employee rating scale every year. This is true. They rate employees by number and then target the lowest ones, whether they are good at their job or not, and attempt to force them out by intimidation, pressure and humiliation. if you ever went to high school and saw kids bullying others in the hallway, then you understand the environment. Its basically a high school football team running the show. HR is not responsive to concerns whatsoever. Terrible technology is also an issue. the systems are antiquated and extremely inefficient.

Pros

Lunch program: for $50 a month you can get a lunch every day and it's not bad food. Location: located in Richfield so there is no traffic

Cons

Management is incompadent and has no idea how to manage employees. Hard working employees are pushed to work harder and harder and longer and longer hours. By the time I left I was working 60+ hours a week on a 40 hour a week salary. Company culture is horrible, it is a back stabbing cut throat throat culture. On multiple acasions my supervisors blamed me for mistakes that they made. Also the company makes it vary clear that employees are disposable and if you make mistakes they will just replace you. Illegal activity: on more then one occasion I was asked to do illegal things for the company. Abuse: managers verbally abuse their employees Lack of training: employees are not given training on how to do their jobs effectively

They don’t care about you

Pros

Lunch program, free parking, and co-workers who make the suffering better for a couple minutes a day.

Cons

National Interstate is like an abusive relationship and until you’re gone you don’t realize how much better off you are. This is a company where they don’t mind employing the kind of people who will make racist remarks and not write them up for it even after its been brought to HR numerous times. They will work you to death because no claims adjuster wants to be there and no one can keep up with the amount of claims that are coming in. There’s a reason why most if not all adjusters have been there less than a year. This company will squeeze every ounce of life you have in you and leave nothing left for a social life because you are stressed out and you don’t know who your supervisor will be because it’s just musical chairs. The technology used makes your job 10x harder because using several systems just makes the front loading of claims SO easy especially when you’re getting over 10 claims a day. They are habitual liars about promotions. If they don’t like you, you will not advance in this company. Even if you have better numbers than most, they will come up with some lazy excuse of a reason as to why you’re not good enough. This isn’t until after they say you have one coming and “you’ve been doing so great, you’ll have it by *insert month*”. Guess what, it’s not coming. One of the most ironic things about this company is that a good amount of the QC department is made up of people who were failing in the eyes of previous QC as adjusters and then they move into these QC roles (because the other ones quit or moved to a different department because claims is a cesspool) only to judge your work. Management does not care about you. They are there only to serve themselves. They will fake a smile and then behind closed (sometimes even open!!!) doors will talk crap about employees. With a turnover rate probably over 60% at this point in claims alone, please do yourself a favor and do not touch this company with a 10 foot pole. Just don’t.
