Pros

Good place to work. A lot of capabilities from the specialty teams.

Cons

NATIONAL is similar to other PR agencies. Ebbs and flows between busy and non-busy times.

Pros

They offer Competitive pay and you get the opportunity to work with “big-name” clients

Cons

If you don’t have a Type A personality and you aren’t mean, aggressive, or a know it all don’t bother going here. Culture is very competitive and not collaborative. They tout all of the buzzwords “set you up for success” “inclusive” But zero action. In my second week there I heard some of my team members talk about how someone on another team had made a complaint to HR that they were difficult to work with and had nasty attitudes. Added to that, all the back talk about colleagues in other offices should have been a red flag but I was optimistic and hoping for the best. It was a horrible experience so much racism , classism and back biting (one of my managers once had what I thought was a personal/informal conversation with me about how I was doing and encouraged me to open up which I did- after our talk she would then document an email to me misquoting everything I had said to her and making it seem as though I was having difficulty getting used to the company’s culture. I was pissed but most of all disappointed. I drafted a very firm but factual detailed response to her addressing every false line in her email and restating what I had actually said because I was smart enough to know they didn’t want me there and were trying to build a case with falsities. She never responded to my email. , From that day I started planning my exit because it was not an environment I wanted to be in. After Over 1 year of working at a company with amazing people and an amazing culture, I am able to finally reflect on how bad my experience at National was and I hope they have done an overhaul of their people- especially director/Vp level. Huge bullies ! Please do your research before working at this company.
