      Not a safe space for people of color

      Pros

      Fun creative team, good pay and benefits, great mission and product

      Cons

      Many times I felt out of place or too black to be working here. I was the only POC onboard for months, and the other POC that was hired left quickly after I found a new job and left. I should have known this would not have worked out because even in the coffee industry it's hard to not hire diversely. I was told not to use slang when talking to my customers because it makes me seem un-intelligent...Never had a complaint from a customer this was a personal and "performance" issue my new boss had with me even though my previous boss had no issue and while I watched many of my white colleagues speak similarly when talking about the coffee industry or to customers.

      Pros

      The creative individuals make the job fun - shame there aren’t many.

      Cons

      Managers are very rude and unappreciative. CEO(s) - they (nor anyone else) have a clue what they’re talking about half the time. This company is great at pretending. No data, no equipment, no encouragement, no basic human rights. (All other reviews bar maybe 1 or 2 have been completely made up by HR) Also HR is an actual joke made up of crackpots who care about getting paid and covering up the long list of mistakes.

      Pretty relaxed job, people care

      Pros

      Kind, cool coworkers. Not a lot of micromanaging and people seem to genuinely try to learn and grow when given feedback. Many cool opportunities come out of working for MF. You feel valued and supported.

      Cons

      Because the company is so flat (not too much hierarchy), sometimes it’s hard to know who’s responsible for what and how to resolve issues that come up.
