Pros

I had really great co workers in my location, always willing to help one another out when needed. Supervisors were always nice, but are micro managed and can not make a real decision.

Cons

Charlie Funk is an egotistical selfish CEO that pretends to care about the employees, loves to cast his judgment down on the common folk. A 3% raise is out out of the ordinary... normally much lower. They lure you in with bells and whistles hoping you won't think about how underpaid you are.

Mediocre at best.

Pros

The company is somewhat involved in the iowa city community, donating to some important causes, and sponsoring some community events. That's one nice aspect. Benefits are pretty standard, so that's also appreciated. Many experiences vary greatly by department and location, people will have varying views on the company because of this, some areas are better to work in then others. Management seems receptive to ideas and changes, which makes it feel like you have a voice, this is also nice.

Cons

Disclaimer: this review is for my position and the location I worked in only. I cannot speak for branch locations or what it is like to work for other departments. 1.) My pay was horrific, major disparity to the fair market rate that other companies in the market are paying for the same position. HR claims they do a compensation study, well they must have skipped over my position. I know for a fact many staff members here are in complete denial on this matter. 2.) The work environment I had to work in was awful, I'm speaking about the location known as "OnePlace". The work environment here was energy draining, bland, lifeless, dull, and demotivating. There is absolutely nothing fun or exciting about working at this office. The company offers nothing in terms of engagement, stimulation, cohesion, camaraderie, or basically anything to make the workspace somewhat stimulating and fun. There is also a fair amount of bureaucracy that goes on here. 3.) The final thing I will mention, because I think it reflects holistically the character of this organization, is the fact that people in HR went out of their way to fight me tooth and nail on disputing my unemployment. I think its disgraceful, unprofessional, and appalling that after all I did for this company, that HR set aside special time to outright fight and deny my unemployment claim, just to make my life worse, as if its not hard enough already in the middle of a pandemic crisis. Its sort of like rubbing salt in a wound, after I could no longer handle working in the toxic environment. Coming from a bank with money and the substandard wage I received, you wouldn't think a company would stoop that low, but MidwestOne did. It really goes a long way to reflect the character of this organization. Its despicable that HR fails to understand that people have bills, families, and other needs that have to be met - I don't think its much to ask to walk away in peace and collect unemployment while in between jobs. Shame on them.

Pros

Some of the people are really nice.

Cons

The pay isn't much to begin with and decisions on how much a salary should be is typically unfair/bias.
