Pros

Nice location in downtown Iowa City.

Cons

Be careful of the reviews you read. If you look at the dates, there was a massive influx of good reviews in a very short period of time to offset the bad reviews this company was getting. Want a hostile work environment where you will be demeaned and have your professional skills and experience insulted publicly, this is the place for you. The lack of professionalism is astounding. Work-life balance doesn't exist. There are absolutely no processes to speak of. If you're a project manager and you're trying to manage your client's project, be prepared to be told how to do your job by the software engineering department. They hold the power. Unprofessional behavior and harassment are acceptable here. If you're the kind of person who wants to do what they're told, and only what their told by the engineering staff, then this might be the place for you. If you want a opportunity to grow and really use your project management skills, run the other way as fast as you can.

Thank you for offering your feedback on your experience at Meta. We’re committed to creating an equitable, transparent and collaborative environment. Although it isn't clear from your review when you worked at Meta, I'm disappointed to hear about some of your experiences and I'd like to address your claims directly. First, the influx and timing of good reviews. Since 2015, Meta has almost doubled in size and we're on track to add another 40-50 people over the next calendar year. Looking at our reviews we have a mix of statements from current employees and former employees left over the course of a few years. It’s a stretch to say that the positive reviews were collected in an attempt to practice “damage control.” It could just as easily be said that the negative reviews were posted by a single person looking to maximize damage to the company’s reputation. Regardless, we take each person’s experience as a reflection of their unique perspective and time at Meta and view your feedback as a chance to learn and grow as a company. Second, your allegations of harassment and discrimination are very serious claims and certainly are not taken lightly. The environment you describe doesn’t correspond with our current culture or the company that we’re working to build. We have never been named in an employment claim, complaint or lawsuit and are striving to be an employer of choice at every level. If you are serious about your claims, please contact me directly so we can address them proactively. You can contact me at blong@meta-comm.com Bob Long President & CEO

Pros

Nothing positive to say about this company. Terrible company.

Cons

This company is a lousy company to work for, the pay and benefits are terrible. Workplace has no structure of any sort. No promotional opportunities to speak of. Company specializes in getting young kids to do their dirty work because they know they can take advantage of them for very little pay. Managers here are very lousy with little experience in managing a company. Worst place ever to work for....Do not consider working here!

Pros

none... Pay is no good, family owned business that looks out for theirs only. no diversity, no accountability, just all wrong for a company that calls itself a tech firm in 2015

Cons

Management are idiots, they don't hire appropriately. They act as if they are professional there is no true professionalism here. There is a lot of who you know here if you are outside of the bubble you wont make it. I am a Sales veteran and only 36 years old i am leaving the company for better opportunities.
