Pros

Great people; decent benefits.

Cons

Depends on what department and who is running it; some departments were great, other departments had high turnover because no would stay with the managers/directors.

Pros

Benefits are good! That's about it.

Cons

Toxic work environment. Horrible work ethic. Staff quitting left and right (if they haven't already quit, they're looking to get out); sweet to the face and horrible behind the backs. Managers have no clue what is actually going on in their department. Constant bad mouthing of upper management. Your social status is how you were treated. (Doctors treated with loyalty, CNA's treated like peasants)

Pros

Benefits are okay Most staff are friendly

Cons

I enjoyed interacting with most of the staff and patient's, however the security department is a joke. The manager and director are two completely opposite people. The director is sincere and seems to care about you as a person. The manager could not care about you less as a person. You are a warm body and nothing else. You will get verbally abused, hit, bit, kicked at by the patients, but if you approach the manager with any safety concerns, he doesn't care. If nurses complain about safety concerns or you. The manager will investigate it like he's in the FBI and he's looking into a national security crisis. You are constantly pressured into working overtime and double shifts. The scheduling supervisor will ask you to work several in a row, but the minute you say no to OT, she accuses you of not being a team player. The supervisors pick favorites and will engage and are often the source of the workplace gossip. If you bring legitimate concerns to the manager, again he will not take them seriously. The manager spreads security too thin. He starts all these programs and expects 4 officers a shift to staff two desks, sit on inpatient floors for security presence, patrol the hospital, and bought a metal detector that has now been sitting in storage for two years still. He comes up with completely reactive ideas instead of proactive. You will have 12 days of "training." The day shift trainer tells you to go away and doesn't teach you anything. The night shift trainer is a self-centered jerk who pretends like he is teaching you things, but he is the biggest two-face you will meet. He acts like he is the supervisor and your boss. And he will spread rumors faster than the middle school locker room. He may be insane and should get a psych eval. The PM trainer was a criminal and arrested for animal abuse and harassed women at work everyday. The manager was more concerned with keeping the peace between different hospital units. They audit all of your activities and if your daily logs are off by accident, they will use it as a reason to discipline you. And they hire absolute idiots. Basically, management is terrible and so is working for Meriter Security.
