Pros

The people are nice and the culture is great

Cons

The insurance and the management of the insurance plan is horrible. Unless you are going for your once a year regularly scheduled check up be prepared to pay $700 dollars out of pocket for any nonemergency care. Even if you go to a standard check up if your Dr orders something that isn't considered part of the standard testing be prepared to pay even if it is in network. The dental plan is not worth it and isn't straight forward. The medical isn't required to meet the ACA requirements so don't expect the usual. Also the plan is privately run so while the staff is nice and answers the phone some times they just don't know the answer, the websites are glitchy and it can 6 months+ from them to process payment. So don't be surprised if you receive a bill from a provider 6 months later.

Pros

work was not that difficult, young staff, opportunity to travel, get basic business skills. If you are fresh out of college and looking for a job, admissions is a great place to start. It gives you skills in higher ed and business.

Cons

no room for advancement, management was not trained, some staff choose to put their work onto others and faced no consequences, weekend work

Disappointing lack of appreciation

Pros

The collegial atmosphere among faculty is above average. There are service opportunities available that are personally rewarding even if they will not advance or even guarantee an academic career at the university.

Cons

Management decisions are not people-centered. Job security is based on enrollment, especially for full-time temporary (non-tenure track) employees, so doing extra work in service to the college/university does not seem to have any bearing on whether or not a contract will be renewed. Opportunities for research are practically non-existent.
