Pros

Great products with a great purpose.

Cons

All-around awful. They fire/layoff people while on disability/FMLA and then try to appeal their unemployment benefits (unsuccessfully of course). No true flex-time. No work-life balance for mothers. Antiquated systems. Incompetent Supervisors, many lazy workers, very poor morale. They layoff people in mass #s. Upper management are at odds with each other. Inside Sales Manager is emotionally unustable. Many highs & lows- she randomly burst out crying in a meeting, then flipped a 180 and became over-the-top energetic... then left work immediately after the meeting. Talks condescending to the team like they are children. She is really just not all there. Unattainable sales budgets for many resulting in no commissions and even negative commissions. Poor strategies/poor execution. HR Dept is extremely unprofessional! Known to let people go through voicemail! Very inconsistent with employment policies.

Pros

Great products. Best in class. Medela controls a good amount of market share. Company is great about standing behind their product and with providing good product education.

Cons

Horrible Human Resource department. Everything is out sourced. You are left to figure out a lot on your one. Company is very cliquish and does not support working mothers. Company has gone as far a firing a working, single pregnant Mom in seventh month of pregnancy who was working two jobs to support family. The employee was fired by a VP male of our company who insisted she was paid enough. Awfully presumptive coming from this VP who did not care enough to talk to the employee whom was let go, instead fired her via HR over the phone. Instead of helping that Mom the company was ruthless and cold in approach to helping that Mother, firing her. Company pays inadequately in regards to geography. Not every employee lives in an affordable area of the country and Medela should pay accordingly. Internal office staff is difficult to work with. Gossip is constant. Management is arrogant. Not competitive with pricing and with no new products on the horizon is making it very hard for us to gain momentum on our competitors. Company relies heavily on the fact that we are Medela and is slowly losing their share of the market.

Pros

Easy place to spend some time while you learn new skills.

Cons

Executive management is unable to make and commit to decisions, resulting in an extremely slow time to market. The are also out of touch with reality, continuing with business as usual and expecting to stay at the top of the market, when in reality competitors are making innovative new products and passing them by. Teams are very cliquey, and HR is a joke. People are scrambling amongst the chaos, while they are simultaneously letting go of people who are highly skilled and actually getting work done. They tout ‘family’ values for the company, when in reality they have horrible family leave, mediocre insurance benefits, and have no hesitation about laying people off in mass, including those on FMLA. The lack of integrity is shameful.
