It’s okay

Pros

New owners have a great retail background and are bringing us back to original culture. Great product offered for educational learning and fun at the same time. Lots of events to make in store shopping more appealing

Cons

Communication with some upper management is incredibly low which makes every day operations a struggle. With the new ownership, about half of head office jobs were let go so there’s a lot of people wearing a lot of hats and it’s getting exhausting. Still no gift cards offered so retail side of employees get berated on a daily basis from the public with no support from anyone else other than to offer an email address for them to let their frustrations out on even more

Not What it Once Was

Pros

Colleagues are great at store level.

Cons

Constant change and lack of communication from HQ. Company leadership declined to the point that they had to file for CCAA and let go of a large number of dedicated veteran staff even at store level.

Pros

Staff at store level were great.

Cons

There was a constant turnover of Head Office staff, so there was never a continuous vision or plan. Within the last 2 years most of the store level management has changed as well. Many long term managers have left or asked to leave. Managers are asked to run their stores with no hours to do so. If you ask for more hours, you are told that other locations are able to do it with less. Shipments are to be on the sales floor by the next day, with only 2 people working while keeping up with always changing promotions at a moments notice. Shift Leaders make less than .75c more than minimum wage, but have why more responsibilities for what they are paid. All part time staff make minimum wage no matter how long you've been there. Upper management spend more time patting themselves on the back for a job well done, while store staff are run off their feet. Bonuses are once a year and only for managers and assistant managers. The amount is laughable. This company has lost its way. The family company from years ago is now a company of corporate greed. Even if you are making/exceeding sales plans, if you are not selling(pushing) the monthly favs, then you are not doing your job.
