Work-Life Balance, in my opinion, is not up to par. Many of the managers have been with the company for 30 to 40+ years. I feel they have this "Old-School" mentality of a one income family. Where 1 person works and 1 person handles the home-front. Obviously, this doesn't exist like it did 40 years ago. Leaving home at 6am and getting home at 7pm is frustrating. Additionally, while technology is embraced by the owners, many of the managers struggle with it or flat out decide not to adopt it leaving some of the younger employees stuck in a state of having to tailor their work, reports, etc. into something the older generation can comprehend. Unable to apply teachings from the Leadership class. My Director would throw temper tantrums and hang up on me. She would punish managers and employees for asking for PTO saying it was during a critical IT project. Only after she made me and the person that reported to me cry, did she give us a timeline of when we could take PTO. She said her door was always open but she would not help (I was new) when I asked.
