Extremely stressful to work as a Property Representative or Lead. The company does not own the properties, but instead, manages them for the property owners. This creates an extremely stressful job because many of the owners want to micromanage which interferes with performing the job. There are some owners who we have to get prior authorization from to do repairs or work orders and some of these owners will not authorize necessary repairs. This leads to unhappy tenants who do not hesitate to complain about the Property Rep. What's worse is MPM will side with the tenant in order to please the owner even though the owner not authorizing the repair is the problem, not the rep. MPM does not have their employees backs. Then you have to travel to do onsite inspections which can be pretty far out depending on the properties you manage. There are also many, many whiny tenants who call you because the two pieces of concrete slab do not have salt on them at 4am when they went to work. Instead of taking the salt scooper that sits right on one of the concrete slabs and putting salt on one of the two concrete slabs, they will call in to complain. I had one tenant complain that she could not get out of her underground garage at 7am even though the snowstorm started around 6am and the owner hired his own company to handle the salting and snow removal. The company always put that property at the bottom of the list. Well of course, I called to let the owner know about the problem, he did nothing, so the tenants called to complain that I did something wrong.
So, this is only the minimum of the stress at this company. The staff is nice, but the job is stressful. Put it like this, every single Property Lead smokes cigarettes and most of them say they do not start smoking until they get to work. They all huddle up outside on several cigarette breaks a day.
