Pros
Flexibility/Life-Work Balance- MM is flexible and encourages a life-work balance that is so important to me. I like that I don't get slack messages all night after work and on the weekends. Also, flex work is great! Support/Coaching- the Executive team is really great, and I find that multiple members of the upper management team have mentored and coached me, helping me reach my career goals. After a year in my position, I was ready for a career shift when a position within the company opened up that I was very passionate about. To my surprise, I found that I had so much support from the team even though it meant hiring and rearranging the teams. After a few months in transition, I am loving my new position! Freedom to create: If you have an idea, you can bring it to life at MachineMetrics! Incredible People: Working with so many smart people makes work fun! When everyone around is working hard and pushing towards the goal, it makes your own work feel more valuable as a contributor. I have never worked with such a great, and caring group of people.
Cons
The manufacturing industry was new to me when I started, and getting up to speed on the lingo and industry overall was a challenge. I still have a lot to learn after over a year. Although we now have internal product training, I think there is more room for improvement around onboarding new employees when it comes to industry education. Additionally, the departmental onboarding was not well developed at the time I was added, but I was the first hire for the department, so it was to be expected. I have personally onboarded a couple employees now, and I found myself creating the training program for the positions since there really wasn't anything available. This is to be expected with a young start-up, and I quite enjoyed creating the training. However, this is not for everyone, so if you need structured education, you may find this learning curve challenging.
