Pros

Sometimes I come into work and sit down in my office while I contemplate ending it all. Then I realize that someone else will be forced to clean up my mess. I guess that is a pro

Cons

Seriously, Does anyone have to ask about the cons? Just visit the place. Good people leave, incompetent stays.

Pros

Some good people here easy work, although mundane, it is packaging machinery we're talking about work 30's get paid for 40's 2 hour lunch breaks some days

Cons

Management at this company is two-faced. Certain people in "management" roles completely lack the skills needed to be in those positions. This company has a very high turnover rate, and it's because people find out what this place is like and decide to leave. Very low pay. Benefits are terrible, and the 4 1/2 day work week isn't truly 4 1/2 days, unless the company isn't selling anything, which is very common because no company wants to deal with a company like MGS that uses the cheapest parts and components. Every machine is always late, and the machine never functions like it is supposed to.

Pros

MGS has (had) a very dynamic and intelligent engineering group, which was necessary in order to develop custom packaging applications. The group was able to perform together well, and the ownership gave every appearance of openness and honesty.

Cons

During my tenure with the company there had been a major management turnover, and along with it a purge of veteran employees in both Engineering and Manufacturing, along with many key support personnel. As a result of this, the climate throughout the company became one of mistrust and fear, and at the same time the company experienced a downfall in sales which only heightened the terror experienced by all. Along with all of this, the ownership and management insisted that they were operating in the best interests of the employees and that their profoundly expensive health insurance and benefits plan was competitive for the industry (it wasn't) and that their wages were above average based upon their own self-conducted salary survey.

Thank you for your feedback. You’re right, we did have the misfortune of experiencing a dip in sales a few years ago. In order to keep the business healthy, the management team had to make some tough decisions. Not only are these choices difficult for us, but we understand that they directly impact the lives of our employees and their families. At MGS we make it a priority to be open and honest with our team about the health of the company, sales forecast, goals for improvement and culture. We do this by holding department and all company meetings regularly, and we’ll continue to do so. In addition to this, our employees know they can go to their manager at any time with questions or concerns they may have. We’ve also since implemented a strategy for getting everyone involved, connected, communicating and working on the business at every level to make us better. In regards to your comments about pay and benefits, MGS conducts regular market reviews of compensation and benefits from validated industry sources. This ensures MGS is competitive in our wage and benefits compensation packages. We strive to hire and retain the best employees in our industry. I appreciate hearing your thoughts and hope in the future you’ll be comfortable bringing your concerns and ideas forward to your current company’s leadership.
