Pros

Previously before cutbacks, great work environment. Lots of training and excellent Director to work under.

Cons

With jobs being cut, work/life balance is gone. 100+ hours at corporate and it is expected. Upper Management doesn’t care about employees, we have become numbers. Brought in executives that aren’t experienced in the field and are insecure, so constantly looking to scape goat their subordinates! Every single person in my department has either left or is looking to leave. HR doesn’t listen to employees or hear their concerns.

Pros

Great benefits, can learn a lot at this company.

Cons

You may not be compensated or recognized for your hard work and dedication unless you are a "high potential" employee. The only way to be recognized as a "Hypo" is if all leaders agree you are worthy of the title. Trust is something leadership doesn't value, information is not shared with employees, well the communications department will say they share information but in reality leadership doesn't share information that will help their employees be successful. Until "leadership" including the CEO can build a trusting leadership team this company will continue to have the deserved reputation it currently has of "hard work and little reward". Unqualified internal employees are given jobs and promotions that they have no knowledge of and are provided the opportunity to "learn on the job". While other qualified employees wait in the background and do the work of those who are learning. You are labeled in most cases by one person and then that label is continued throughout your career. 30, 40+ year employees are not valued, but thought of as a liability because they may die or retire and there is no one to take their place. Leadership bullying goes on behind closed doors, employees being cussed at to their face and threatened if they go to a higher level of authority for any reason. This is a shame as this could be a "great place to work". It is a hard company to work for and is certainly not for the faint at heart.

Management is Awful

Pros

Health care is good, dental and HSA/FSA aren’t. Time off is reasonable, coworkers are great. Company stresses safety. Can’t think of anything else.

Cons

Management, management & management. I once read a story this year: The #1 reason why employees quit is because of management. If Lyondell wants to be great, get rid of the toxic & negative people. Turnover is high in some departments & mgrs should be held accountable for this. Very hostile work enviornment, mgrs intimidate & bully employees into what they want, even threaten to not give STI if you make mistakes. How is this acceptable behavior? Micromanage, lack knowledge in some areas & have different expectations WEEKLY, if not daily. Alot of politics here. I don’t recommend at all.
