Pros
So far, so good. While I haven't quite been here that long and was a bit weary of the negative reviews from the past on Glassdoor, I had faith that there was a great group of people working here and I was right. It's great to literally be surrounded by like-minded people with passion for the customer, music, and high performance. At other companies, I often felt like I was surrounded by slackers; not here. Everyone gives their best and management recognizes it. The woes of the past seem to be far behind and the acquisition seems to be mutually beneficial to both companies as well as the employees. It is great working with such a diverse group of people on a wide range of projects. Freedom to propose ideas and give feedback at anytime to anyone in the company is much appreciated. The transparency from senior management is also most welcome. Leaving room for improvement (as there always is with any place) and more time at the company, hence the 4 stars.
Cons
Is it a bad thing to be surrounded by so many smart people? Well, it can sometimes seem intimidating, at least due to some people's demeanor. I'm sure they probably don't mean it, but if you keep on your toes and have thick skin, you'll be alright. I don't really have any cons to report, other than the amount of meetings could be reduced or at least have meeting time used more efficiently. Scrum can be pushed a little too much (it's great, but not always the most applicable/efficient). I appreciate the light atmosphere, but often meetings are derailed and lengthened by sidebar jokes and detailed conversations that should be taken offline. Also, product data management and documentation control could use many improvements, but it seems to be on the horizon. Many outsiders think of this place as a huge company, but it doesn't feel like one with the culture (good thing) or the resources available (not so good thing). More time and investment in R&D and infrastructure would be much appreciated. But a lot of the same can be said about most companies.
