Pros

None at this time, sorry!

Cons

Use to be a fun company to work for. Once they went public it went straight downhill from there. You have Mr. Hewitt's friends who have different set of rules from everyone else. The people who cared about LTS are long gone. Everyone has jumped ship from CFO, COO, CTO - makes you wonder if they want good talented employees or just yes "men and woman". They hire you promising you he world and then when you get there, Mr. Hewitt does not allow you to do anything. You are just a monkey in his circus!

Pros

Flexible hours, gain experience preparing taxes, working with public at high rate/fast pace. Familiarity with software for tax prep. How to operate a profitable business, how NOT to treat employees that you want to retain.

Cons

Horrible treatment of employees. CTEC given to anyone who attends class, even if not proficient in tax preparation. No advancement for intelligent African Americans, especially men Poor preparation. Overload of tasks and responsibility for peasant-like compensation. Over charge for product/service on poor communities. Not really used by middle upper class people. Continued games with tax preparer bonus toward end of season to NOT pay you! Trip/trick you to terminate personnel to avoid payment of bonus. Weeks of unpaid training hours at start and throughout season. High turnover of management and tax preparer personnel. Overall just plain shady and underhanded. Especially elaahub (east los angeles hub)

Pros

The company has an established reputation with clearly defined rules that make working relatively stress-free.

Cons

I have worked as a tax preparer for several years, always working at major national chains at least two years. Usually, the pay structure as a tax preparer is based upon production- if you do the work, you are rewarded. I was paid a salary just above minimum wage. I was informed that this year, we would become salaried employees, but receive a bonus at the end of the season. I worked for .just above minimum wage. I received a bonus check of 187 dollars. Generally, a tax preparer earns enough money to not work a few months after the hectic pace of tax season ends. It was so disappointing that my daughter earned more at McDonald's that I did as a registered tax preparer.
