Awesome workplace for some, nightmare for others

Pros

High pay, free lunch, insurance, some nice people

Cons

Management is questionable, very micromanaging. There does exist a culture of harassment and micro aggression. Women are disrespected in the worst way possible. No HR; you will have to suffer in silence or you will get in ‘trouble’. For more information, read Employees’ Reviews of Clayco - that’s more like how they are running LJC. Long hours, rewarded with more work.

Pros

People are ambitious, passionate, and hardworking.

Cons

The leadership is oriented mainly around the business. Not sensitive to the passion and energy of people hired. Many untruths are told to influence and manipulate employees. The company took advantage of many passionate architects for corporate benefits—brand over people. People who see through leave primarily because of a lack of honesty and transparency. The company started with passion and moved quickly towards the cold business-far detached from the mission of architecture.

LJC has evolved quite a bit since its original founding. Some of the earlier priorities have adapted to meet our client's needs and to be a better partner to the companies within the Clayco enterprise. At the core, we remain committed to the professional development of our team and to providing creative solutions to the needs of our clients and community.

Pros

Part of Clayco, Amazing resources, free lunches everyday, top notch offices, awesome technology, big money is talking here.

Cons

Growing uncontrollably, many staff coming in at once, leadership is in a mess trying to hire and forgetting about current projects. Very broad management style, you can get lost easily trying to figure out your way. Working with other teams remotely in other offices makes it hard to meet people in your own office.

Feedback is a two way street. We absolutely owe it to you as an employee that you receive regular feedback from your managers. At the same time, this is a culture where you should feel empowered to request honest feedback on your performance. While we may be in different offices, we are one team. Sharing ideas from multiple geographies and perspectives is encouraged and we feel essential to producing better design solutions.
