LSI destroyed by Avago

Pros

LSI was a great company. Good people, good leadership, no debt.

Cons

Avago Technologies bought them in May of 2014 and the company just began to unravel. Avago works on a skeleton crew and their motto is "Good enough". It became apparent very quickly that Avago only bought LSI in order to make money off of it's parts. They never intended to keep the company intact. The Allentown, PA employees have faded away to nothing.

Great place until acquisition

Pros

Local group is filled with great people to work with, management below Avago senior staff are engaged and friendly. Work is challenging.

Cons

Pre-takeover statements that no major changes in organization or personnel expected, and that benefits would improve or be no worse than pre-Avago, all lies. Major organizational changes, many layoffs company wide, and virtually every benefit has been cut (sabbaticals, vacation, reward programs, and lately vacation annual accrual and caps were cut with many people losing days to a week or more of vacation). We had among the best medical benefits in the industry; everyone is expecting the worst. The oft-repeated promise that all benefits would remain the same for a year after the acquisition was broken in the first month.

Was a good company - now under foreign management

Pros

Was a good, progressive company Had telecommuting for all Flexible work hours

Cons

All of the "pros" are gone - administrative support was eliminated and senior management expected to make their own travel arrangements, calendaring, expense vouchers, etc. Current CEO is from a different culture than American/Western culture - micromanages EVERYTHING, even office supply purchases! No telecommuting at all No investment in research and development
