My nightmare

Pros

Some co-workers are genuinely nice.

Cons

Most co-workers express a false positive attitude. My role was changed to several roles because apparently it's my fault people do not want to work there. Felt like an evil mega corporation that says they care (they don't) hired as part time working full time hours (prevents me from getting benefits) training is basically non-existent besides a 6 hour power-point you'll forget immediately

Pros

You get to do what you love… graphics

Cons

Low pay, workload is not manageable and you will burn out. Too demanding, even for the hardest worker.

Pros

RRSP program, maybe. Benefits right away if you're lucky. Everything else is status quo or below.

Cons

No rewards above and beyond what regular employees receive. In fact, all other full time staff receive more in the form of recognition, prizes, OT pay, development, and other incentives. You'll only be given 2 weeks vacation unless you can successfully negotiating for more. You're expected to work at least 50- 60 hr weeks, but will only get paid for 40. Hours worked are not recorded, so you'll lose hundreds of insurable EI hours if you ever needed to rely on that. Never, ever ask or inquire about over time pay. You will never get the equivalent in time off for excessive hours worked. This is one of their unwritten rules. It's a "use it or lose it" vacation policy. If you have vacation days left at the end of the year, the company will not roll them over, and will not pay them out (which is illegal). There are no Christmas bonuses no matter how successful or profitable a store is. Only the store managers reaps the rewards. Not even a Merry Christmas or a card. Annual raises are far less than 2% per year. This is a laughable amount considering it doesn't even cover the cost of inflation. Raises have nothing to do with performance, so there's little incentive. There's no coaching, employee development, or performance feedback. If you're not part of the boys club, your presence and value will not matter. You will be ignored until you decide to quit.
