Sounds too good to be true? It is . . .

Pros

Great benefits; food and drinks are always available; free tickets to sports and theater event. Some of the offices have great views. The office location is right off of the freeway; so it is easy access. The general work is interesting: must perform diverse and various tasks that are usually unavailable at more narrow, focused corporate positions.

Cons

The company touts a great "work-life" balance tagline, but in reality, everyone must be at the office by 9 am and leave by 5 pm with paid 1 hr lunch break. "Open-door" policy is also touted, but in reality, suggestions are not welcomed. Food and drinks are provided so that the employees do not leave the office. The company prefers that everyone remains onsite from 9 - 5. The work environment is very suffocating. An employee must act and say the "correct" things; otherwise lectures will be forthcoming.

I have PTSD from my 1 year here

Pros

Looks great on your resume...that's about it

Cons

Bizarre, extremely siloed and political culture. Also literally everything is a fire drill - zero work life balance. Was hired into a "staff" role with a nice VP title and seemingly nice people, but never could have known how much of a divide there is between "executives" and how much of a second class citizen you are internally. As an example, we were not invited to any of the optional training or learning sessions, and even sillier things like being the only people on our floor not included in the summer outing or allowed to visit the dining hall (we had a seamless credit instead). I knew within 2 weeks I had made a huge mistake but had to stick it out. Zero opportunity for internal mobility. I still shudder and tense up at my memories of my time wasted here.

Pros

EA's are great people to work with. Felt like family.

Cons

KKR suffers from what can best be labeled as a Cast system. Mgmt bends over backwards for the 'money makers' .. (Executives)... while dumping on the staff and assistants. Mgmt wants to give more work to assistants/staff but at the same time cut pay, cut benefits, and cut OT - however still holding assistants up to the same standard it once did when they supported them/encouraged OT. Unless you are a Director and up... they will only take, take, take. **If you want to advance your career here... its best to play the political game... as advancement is not AT ALL based on merit
