Pros

They will give all the frisbees you will ever want

Cons

They will give you "perks" like frisbees and t-shirts, but I experienced a lot of stinginess when it came to pay. I regularly asked for raises to match my efforts/workload/achievements as well as match my market value but would get scoffed at. This made me feel extremely undervalued and undermined. I was making at least 30% less than my market value and now I'm making 11% more than my market value at my new job and I have way better benefits. They did not properly communicate changes to our group, like new hires. Bringing on new hires requires planning to assist for workload balance. It did not feel like they understood what the contract was about or what we or the client needed. Christmas parties are thrown in Northern Virginia so expect to dish out money for gas + a hotel room to battle NoVA traffic during the holidays if you are out of state.

Small but growing defense contractor firm

Pros

Great clients. JRAD has historically supported the Test and Evaluation programs for acquisition programs in the Chemical Biological Defense Program, but is trying to expand in areas outside T&E for significant growth.

Cons

Salaries for senior staff are OK, but total compensation packages (i.e., bonuses) are inadequate. Flat management structure is problematic. Non-confrontational management style of leadership allows problem employees to persist long beyond their usefulness.
