Pros

1. Get to work on a multitude of projects because of the small size of the company 2. Open work environment 3. Work downtown 4. Ability to learn technical skills fast if you don’t have prior experience 5. Learn to keep your composure when managers yell at you 6. Learn to work through continual crises 7. Learn to keep an even strain in stressful situations 8. Learn how not to treat an employee as a manager

Cons

1. The CEO and management (have little to no involvement with anyone outside of their inner circle) 2. Not a development focused company i. Not interested in developing employees' longer-term career development ii. Not interested in retaining employees iii. No feedback review from employees to managers 3. The turnover rate 4. No training 5. No procedures 6. Many superiority complexes 7. You will be blamed for not knowing something when you were not given any instruction or materials 9. Not set up to succeed 10. No team building 11. Value of your work is not recognized, but loyalty, years at the company, acquiescence, and friendship with the CEO are 12. Not a team player environment 13. Not a fun environment to work in. The vindictive culture will bleed into your personal life 14. People are unwilling to take the time out of their day if you need help 15. If there is an inefficient process, you will be told “it is your job” instead of the process being made efficient 16. Leaders are not positive, 2-faced, do not provide constructive feedback, and have no idea what you work on; instead just tell you “your work is garbage” or “why are you working here?” 17. The Employee review lasted 5 minutes, had no substance, provided no constructive feedback, and was heavily delayed by about 2 months 18. The communication between departments is almost non-existent 19. Company is not focused on customer / client service 20. Some management do not even know how to use their own product and do not listen to the people interacting with the software, clients, or customers all day Conclusion: If you are looking for a place to learn technical skills real fast (depending on the role) then definitely work here, but be prepared for what everyone has said on Glassdoor or reach out to someone on LinkedIn currently working here to get a true opinion. The culture and work environment are toxic. It really depends on what kind of opportunity cost you are willing to take in terms of your happiness level. I would not recommend this company to a friend. The funniest thing you will see if you join is someone going around the office turning TVs on when some group of people come into the office, just to make it look like the TVs are displaying some useful metric. We called this the horse and pony show.

Pros

Had the opportunity to work with friends; great camaraderie.

Cons

Plain and simple – I highly advise NOT working here. In my honest opinion, the company is a train wreck, and the extremely high turnover rate should say enough in that aspect. The environment at Insureon impedes the ability to develop your professional career. Management will bring you on board and, at the time of your interview, will say you will be promoted quickly and proceed to continuously come up empty on their many promises. Whether it’s a title promotion or commission structure, there is not much transparency here and things hardly ever result in a favorable way. Be prepared to be overworked and underpaid (with potentially an inaccurate commissions check). I can confidently say that a majority of the leadership at this company is weak – a trend that trickles down from the top of the hierarchy. It’s concerning when a manager (and one of the company executives), Belen Tokarski, doesn’t know the job functions of all her team members or even their name (and will resort to calling you “dude” in lieu of your actual name). When someone with such a highly regarded title hides behind their computer screen and does not interact and engage with their own team members, it puts you on a fast track to failure. Management crumbles and folds under pressure and will not support you, ultimately failing to embody the “leader” part of “leadership”. You might also need to mute your phone sometimes so your clients don’t hear the CEO cussing to his hockey friends on the sales floor in the background. In summary, if you’re even remotely considering interviewing here or accepting a job offer... run, and run fast. However, if you schedule an interview with this company, I would recommend confirming the names of the individuals in the chain of command. If Tokarski’s name falls within that chain, you may want to reconsider your options. The company has a lot of potential but, unfortunately, the bad just totally outweighs the good here and I think it’s only fair to provide some insight on Insureon’s toxic culture to prospective employees.

Pros

Pro: If you don’t care about job satisfaction or professional development - this is a job for you

Cons

For anyone considering a job at insureon, I would highly recommend to walk away from it right now. The company lacks hierarchy which is presented as a benefit of a startup company however it will more often than not mean your workload is incredibly overwhelming and the job you’re actually doing is not the job you originally applied for. The company does not have a formal HR department, putting its employees in an extremely vulnerable position. Senior management is notorious for sweeping multiple issues under the rug specifically related to how women are treated in the office. Due to these issues in addition to the intimidation tactics used by management, insureon lacks employee morale which is demonstrated in its extremely high turnover rate.
